When a large, red pimple rears its ugly head, resist the urge to pick at your face. This will likely only make the blemish more noticeable. Squeezing and scratching at breakouts often pushes bacteria further under the skin, causing irritation, redness and swelling -- not to mention permanent scarring. To zap zits fast, apply a small amount of benzoyl peroxide cream or gel to the problem area once or twice a day. When you must squash a pimple on your own, use caution. Take a warm shower to soften skin, and use rubbing alcohol to disinfect a sewing needle. Gently poke the skin with the needle, and then wrap your index fingers around two tissues and squeeze. Above all, don't be forceful! Usually, a blemish will disappear on its own if you leave it alone.
