After their wedding ceremony on Nov. 20, 1947, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip (formerly known as Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten) spent their honeymoon in Broadlands, the Mountbattens' country home, and in Birkhall, Queen Elizabeth's childhood home.
They planned a second honeymoon to Malta in the Mediterranean to mark their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple lived in Malta in the early days of their marriage, so it's a sentimental location for them! They stopped by the island for a few days on their way to Uganda for an official visit. This just goes to show you that you've got to work to keep the magic alive in a marriage.
