The end of summer is in sight and you know what that means: back-to-school shopping. Four words every young fashion maven loves to hear. We all know that only the perfect shoe completes the ensemble, so buying a shoe wardrobe that's functional yet versatile is important for every back-to-school budget. Here are five styles that are sure to please your budding fashionista.

5
Gladiator Sandals

A girl can never have too many pairs of sandals, but it's important to have at least one that's appropriate for school and goes with everything. If you have a style maven that you're shopping for, she'll definitely want a pair of gladiator sandals, which are all the rage this year. These popular strappy sandals that buckle at the ankle can be dressed up or down and offer considerably more support than the ubiquitous flip-flops.

As feminism came in, high heels went out, and women and girls alike have embraced flats as a comfortable wardrobe staple for many years. Ballet flats are the most popular style of these shoes for girls right now, appropriately named because the toe resembles that of a ballet shoe. These much-loved shoes come in every color imaginable, and their simplicity is so versatile that they look great with both jeans and skirts.

3
Sneakers

Girls just want to have fun, but they also want to look cute doing it. Fortunately, we've come a long way from the Princess Reebok; fun and funky is the new name of the game, and you can choose from high tops or low tops in a variety of fun colors. Pair them with skinny jeans or knee length skirts to add flair to an outfit.

2
Clogs

As evidenced by the Crocs craze, the clog style of shoe will probably never go out of style. In addition to the beloved rubber shoes that have swept the nation, traditional clogs have been coming and going since they showed up in the 1970s and they're back again this fall. If you can get your girl to part with her Crocs, there are lots of cute clog styles that resemble the old school clog made of leather and wood, but with style updates, including cute and funky patterns and enclosed backs.

Last but not least, your little lady will need a pair of boots to round out her footwear. Furry boots seem to be hanging in there again this year, so you won't have to part her from her beloved pair she already owns, unless she's already outgrown them, of course. Rain boots are also a popular choice because they come in a variety of super cute styles, and they're now made to keep feet toasty as well as dry.
