Here's an idea that's almost too pretty to eat: A fruit bouquet that looks like a colorful flower centerpiece for your table.
- 1 fresh pineapple
- 1-2 pints of strawberries
- 1 bag of grapes
- 1 pint blueberries
- A few sprigs of parsley
- Cookie cutter in the shape of a flower
- Melon baller
- Bamboo skewers or chopsticks
- Floral foam
Note: All amounts above are approximates. You will need to gauge the size of your bouquet, depending on the size of your family or get-together.
First, choose your vase and secure the correct-sized floral foam to the bottom.
Peel your pineapple, then cut into slices. Next, use the flower-shaped cookie cutter to shape each slice so that each of them resembles a flower. Set these aside.
Next, cut your cantaloupe in half, clean it of all seeds, and make as many melon balls as you'd like to see in your bouquet. Cut a bunch of these melon balls in half and set aside as well.
Using the bamboo skewer, gently poke a hole through the center of each pineapple flower, leaving just the tip of the skewer exposed. Put one of the halved melon balls on top - this is the center of your flower. Make as many of these as you'd like to see in your bouquet.
Next, create skewers of grapes, strawberries or any other fruit you'd like (alternate grapes and blueberries, etc.). You may also choose to use whole melon balls or top some of the sticks with upside-down strawberries.
