This one is perfect for very young children - just be forewarned that the materials in this project can make for quite a sugar high that even Monet might not escape.

Ingredients

  • Corn syrup
  • Several colors of food coloring
  • Graham crackers
  • Mixing bowls
  • Optional: Sprinkles (Jimmies)

Kids and parents can decide together what colors will inspire their young artist. Red, green, blue and yellow are among the most common colors of food coloring found on grocery store shelves.

Pour a few tablespoons of corn syrup in each bowl and add a few drops of food coloring. Stir.

Lay down newspaper or cardboard on the surface where the project will take place. Give the child his or her graham cracker "canvas" and allow them to begin their masterpieces right away!

Optional: Make the masterpiece a bit more dimensional by adding sprinkles (jimmies) for texture.
