Easy Indoor Crafts for Kids

Keepsake Ornaments

Create original keepsake ornaments every holiday season to record the aspirations of a budding artist. This easy kids' craft will be something to remember.

What You'll Need:

  • Round wood plaque (available at craft stores)
  • Permanent markers or acrylic paints and paintbrush
  • Ribbon

How to Make Keepsake Ornaments:

Step 1: Draw or paint a holiday design on a wood plaque. Here are some ideas for designs based on geometric shapes: a triangle tree, a circle wreath, a square present, and a diamond holly leaf. Use a combination of shapes to make a picture of Santa Claus.

Step 2: If you use paint, let it dry. Sign your work and write the date.

Step 3: Thread a piece of ribbon through the hole at the top of the wood plaque. Tie the ends in a knot to hang your ornament. Make a new one for each Christmas so that you'll have a record of your holiday artwork.
