Door hangings are a fun way for kids to keep the family posted on what they're up to, whether it's doing homework or hanging out.
- Wooden or foam door hanging
- Wooden or foam letters (alternative: stickers or stencils)
- Markers or paint and paintbrush (alternative: wallpaper or scrapbook paper)
- Mod Podge or another brand of clear glue (optional)
There are all sorts of things you can do to make a cool personalized doorknob sign. Paint it with your favorite colors, cover it with decorative paper, color it with magic markers - you get the point. The best part is that the materials are easy to find and often cost only a few dollars.
Once the base of the doorknob sign is decorated, kids can add their names -- or if they are creating it to be flipped -- perhaps two activities they're frequently doing. A slogan or an emotive icon (smiley face, for example might also do the trick.
A photo of the child can help personalize this craft, and although the Mod Podge (or other clear sealant) isn't completely necessary, it can help protect the sign in case it accidently gets closed in the door.
