Wash and dry a recycled metal can. If possible, leave the wrapper on to give the corkboard something to adhere to. Make sure there are no sharp edges around the top of the can - sand edges if necessary.
Lay the can on its side against the top left edge of the corkboard. Mark the corkboard at the edge of the can, roll the can to the bottom left edge of the corkboard, and mark again.
Use a ruler to line up the marks on the corkboard and cut with a craft knife.
Roll the cut corkboard around the can and mark where the corkboard overlaps at the top and bottom. Use a ruler to line up the marks on the corkboard and cut with a craft knife.
Run the corkboard through an adhesive machine, peel off the backing, and apply to the can. If you are using brads for embellishments, apply them to the adhesive backed corkboard before applying corkboard to the can.
The corkboard should fit tightly around the can. Trim away any excess cork at the seam.
Trim 12" patterned paper to 1.5".
Wrap patterned around corkboard, mark where paper overlaps, and trim.
Adhere trimmed paper strip to bottom edge of can.
Add embellishments and enjoy!
