This indoor craft is great to decorate any space in the house. A Stunning Sunflower Wreath is a kids' craft too good to feed to the birds.

What You'll Need:

  • Mature sunflower seed head, well dried
  • Dry wheat, barley, or wild grass heads
  • Millet spray (available at a pet food store)
  • 1 yard of cloth or plastic ribbon
  • Silk or plastic flowers
  • 2 wire twist ties
  • Paring or craft knife (adult help needed)
  • Cool-temp glue gun and glue sticks

How to Make the Stunning Sunflower Wreath:

Step 1: Remove the center section of a sunflower seed head by cutting all around the stem on the back side and pushing it gently out toward the front.

Tip: Giant sunflower blossoms lose their petals and turn into mature seed heads in the fall. Ask a gardener to save a sunflower head for you -- or grow giant sunflowers yourself in your backyard or in a patio container. Sunflowers like rich soil, bright sunshine, and lots of water.
