Let the kids create a masterpiece, and then make it even more special by placing it in a dolled up picture frame.

Materials:

  • Wooden picture frame
  • Ribbon
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Silk flowers
  • Beads (alternative: seeds)

Instructions:

First, take the picture frame apart and carefully place the glass and back of the frame aside. Use the glue gun to affix one end of the ribbon -- mom's favorite color -- to the frame, and then carefully wrap it all the way around, making sure to pull it tight. You can even use two pieces of ribbon that slightly overlap if you want to get more colors into the mix. Once you've got it arranged to your liking, secure the end of the ribbon in place with another bit of glue.

Next, using the glue gun, adhere the decorations you've chosen for this craft -- silk flowers, beads or seeds -- in any position you please. You can also get creative and add other flourishes -- maybe some lace around the edges, a smattering of glitter around the objects or another memento that reminds you of mom.

Once everything's securely fastened in place, reassemble the frame with artwork safely inside.
